What Bible Verse Sudoku Is, and What It Is Not

Welcome! You found us early, and we are genuinely glad you did. Quiet Grid Press is brand new, this is our very first article, and we get to spend it introducing a book we are proud of: Bible Verse Sudoku. Pour yourself something cold, find a comfortable chair, and let us show you around.

What it is

Picture this: a big, roomy 8.5 x 11 inch page. One Sudoku puzzle, sitting there with all the space it deserves. And sharing the page, one verse from the King James Version, quoted word for word, starting where everything starts:

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. — Genesis 1:3

That is page one. There are 119 more where it came from: 120 easy puzzles across twelve themed chapters that travel through light, trust, wisdom, courage, peace, love, hope, gratitude, service, mercy, fellowship, and a steady journey home. Every chapter opens with a full-page illustration, every verse gets its own original pen-and-ink drawing, and every single puzzle has its complete solution waiting in the back. (We know some of you check. We respect that.)

Here is our favorite part. “Easy” on this cover is a promise, not an apology. Every puzzle can be finished with plain, satisfying logic. No guessing, ever. Numbers are wonderfully stubborn things: in each puzzle there is always a square that can only be one thing, and finding it is the little spark that makes Sudoku so much fun. This book hands you that spark 120 times, and the difficulty never sneaks up on you around chapter three. The puzzle you solve with your morning coffee and the one you solve after dinner will treat you exactly the same. That is the whole idea: a half hour that leaves you lighter than it found you.

What it is not

We believe telling you the truth is part of the fun of doing this right, so here it is, with a smile.

It is not a devotional or a Bible study. The verses are exact and treated with reverence, and whatever they stir in you is yours entirely. We just set the table.

It is not a large-print edition. The pages are open and uncluttered, and many folks find them very comfortable, but we will not wear a badge we have not earned. When we make a true large-print edition, you will hear us cheering about it from here.

It is not a brain treatment or a health program. It is recreation, plain and joyful: a pencil, a page, a verse, and a quiet win at the end.

And it is not a hard book in disguise, or an easy book that mumbles. It looks you in the eye and asks exactly what it said it would.
